Robert McClure

Robert McClure began formal music study at 16. He studied percussion with Jim Briggs, Robert Bell, David Pasquarella and currently studies with Roger Schupp at Bowling Green State University. He also studied piano with Marjorie Blood.

McClure began composing music for small ensembles, piano and orchestra at 17. After the death of his band and orchestra teacher, Robert Haddad, McClure composed Requiem for combined band and orchestra. This lead to a commission from the Toledo Symphony Orchestra for a 60-measure fanfare as part of the 60th Anniversary Season Fanfare Project. Fanfare for Orchestra was premiered on March 5, 2004 during a TSO classics concert.

McClure premiered many of his percussion works at Bowling Green State University including Three Studies for Marimba, The Morning of Winter for marimba, and Fantasy for Flute and Marimba with Julia Stephens. Terrance Bates premiered Morning in Spring for vibraphone and Ryan Yahl premiered Windchimes Beneath a Summer Rain. The Dance of Wind for percussion ensemble was premiered by the BGSU Percussion Ensemble in the spring of 2006.
