Alan Elkins

Alan Elkins is a master’s student in music composition at Bowling Green State University (Ohio). He received a bachelor’s of music degree in viola performance from Florida State University, where he studied with Pamela Ryan. He has performed with orchestras throughout the north Florida region, including the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and the Sinfonia Gulf Coast, and has served as principal violist in the Florida State University Philharmonia and Opera orchestras. Several of his works have been performed throughout the eastern United States, including Flight of the Honey-Moth, a commission for solo flute from the Interloch Summer Festival, Episoda for woodwind quintet and percussion, and his Octet for strings. His composition teachers include Burton Beerman, Mark Wingate and Jim David.
